ABSTRACT:  This supplement seeks to study of the effects of cocaine and ethanol exposure within the scope of our current project (R01DA019666). Polysubstance abuse is widespread and difficult to treat. Despite this, the neurobiological impact of commonly abused drug combinations (including cocaine-ethanol) is largely unknown. The auhor is unaware of a single study on the impact of addictive drug combinations on experience-induced reward circuit plasticity. Our Aims are designed to address this knowledge gap within the boundaries of the parent R01 by examining cocaine/ethanol-induced NAc AMPAR plasticity and its impact on behavior.
